On 18th July, 1946, the City of Winchester granted the freedom of the city to the Kings Royal Rifle Corps and Rifle Brigade.<br \/>\nEach regiment provided a strong Guard of Honour under Lt Col W. Heathcoat-Amery D.S.O K.R.R.C. and Lt Col V.B. Turner V.C. Rifle Brigade.
