Percy Herbert Kinder, 1st Battalion King&#8217;s Royal Rifle Corps, continued to work his machine gun before being killed by shellfire on 10th September 1914. He is buried in Montreuil-aux-Lions British Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA NOTTINGHAM HERO.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Corporal Pettit, a native of Skegby, who is lying in hospital with a bullet wound in the head, tells how Sergeant Percy Kinder, whose home is at 124, Lenton-boulevard, met his death.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSergeant Kinder, who was in charge of a Maxim gun with the King&#8217;s Royal Rifles, was wounded not less than three times by bullets. He, however, heroically continued to work his gun until he was struck by a shell and killed. Truly he was a hero, whose name should be inscribed on Nottingham&#8217;s roll of honour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A former warehouse man, he enlisted in Nottingham on 12th May 1906. He was the son of Herbert Felix and the late Louisa Kinder, 17 Albert Grove, Lenton; husband of Bessie Kinder, South Wales.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKINDER. \u2013 In memory of Sergeant Percy Kinder (K.R.R.), aged 27 years, killed in France, September 10th, 1914.\u201d<br \/>\nL\/Cpl.
