The Napoleonic era began in the year of 1799 with Napoleon Bonaparte&#8217;s coup d&#8217;\u00e9tat, that overthrew the Directory and established the French Consulate. It ended in the year of 1815 during the Hundred Days with his defeat at the Battle of Waterloo or a few days later when he abdicated for the second time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Napoleon Bonaparte<\/strong><br \/>\nNapoleon Bonaparte (French: Napol\u00e9on Bonaparte [napole\u0254\u0303 b\u0254n\u0251pa\u0281t], Italian: Napoleone Buonaparte; 15th August 1769 \u2013 5th May 1821) was a French military and political leader who rose to prominence during the latter stages of the French Revolution and its associated wars in Europe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Early years<\/strong><br \/>\n1769<br \/>\nAugust 15th: Napoleon Bonaparte born in Ajaccio,<br \/>\n1785<br \/>\nOctober 28th: Graduates from Ecole Militaire with the rank of second lieutenant in the artillery.<br \/>\nNovember 3rd: Stationed in Valence<br \/>\n1793<br \/>\nDecember 22nd: For his brilliant tactical command (although a subordinate officer, he was widely credited for the victory) at an internal French battle at Toulon, Napoleon receives the new rank of brigadier general<br \/>\n1794<br \/>\nAugust 9th\u201320th: Napoleon is imprisoned under suspicion of being a Jacobin and a supporter of Robespierre.<br \/>\n1795<br \/>\nOctober: Royalist 13 Vend\u00e9miaire rising put down by Napoleon.
